The Star Entertainment Group is one of Australia’s leading integrated resort operators, with a portfolio of hospitality, gaming and entertainment destinations across the country.
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane is a landmark, multi-billion-dollar precinct in the Brisbane CBD, combining hotels, restaurants, retail, gaming and public spaces. Operating within a constrained urban footprint, the site requires precise coordination of supplier deliveries across multiple stakeholders, alongside strict security and time-sensitive operational requirements.
Unlike a traditional distribution centre, the dock environment supports a diverse supplier base and must maintain seamless flow while operating within limited space and high service expectations.
At Queen’s Wharf, The Star requires a structured and reliable approach to managing all inbound deliveries to support smooth precinct operations.
Mobiledock was implemented as the core platform to manage supplier bookings, validate arrivals and control access into the dock environment—providing a consistent and predictable flow of vehicles.
To further strengthen visibility and automate key processes, additional capability has been introduced, including licence plate recognition and real-time monitoring, delivered in collaboration with DDI Labs.
Together, this approach supports increasing levels of automation while maintaining strong operational control.
• High volume of deliveries within a constrained dock footprint
• Multiple suppliers with varying delivery requirements and schedules
• Limited visibility of arrival times and vehicle movement
• Manual coordination of access and dock allocation
• Dependence on intercoms and manual gate control
• Risk of congestion impacting both operations and the surrounding precinct
The Star implemented Mobiledock to digitise and control all supplier deliveries into the precinct, establishing a structured and scalable approach to dock operations.
Core capability includes:
• Centralised booking workflow for all inbound deliveries
• Validation of vehicles against approved bookings
• Controlled access into the dock environment
• Improved visibility of scheduled deliveries
• Reduction in unmanaged or unscheduled arrivals
Additional functionality delivering further value includes:
• Licence plate recognition (LPR), enabling automated vehicle identification across entry, exit and internal dock zones
• Local video processing and analytics supporting speed, accuracy and data privacy
• Driver QR check-in, providing a consistent and efficient arrival experience
• Automated access control, with boom gates triggered based on booking validation
• Bay monitoring capability, enabling identification of available bays and supporting dynamic allocation
• Real-time visibility of vehicle movement across the dock environment
This combined approach enables The Star to progressively automate dock operations while maintaining control, safety and compliance.
The solution is delivering clear operational improvements across the precinct:
• More controlled and predictable vehicle arrivals within a constrained CBD environment
• Reduced congestion through structured booking and automated access
• Improved vehicle throughput with reduced wait times
• Lower reliance on manual coordination and intercom-based processes
• Stronger compliance through enforced booking validation and digital check-in
• Improved visibility for operational teams across all dock activity
